A good Darth Vader. Again and again and again and ...

This is the obligatory Darth Vader for the Black Series 3 3/4", as seen in Empire Strikes Back.

This figure has:
- ball-hinged shoulders, elbows, knees and ankles, and
- swivel head, waist, hips and gloves.

Although this is a good version of Darth Vader, is not better than the ones from the Vintage Collection, VC08 and VC115. And like those, this Vader also include a new gimmick. This time around, Darth Vader can deflect Han Solo's blast just like that one scene in the movie. Yes, just for one scene. This is done by virtue of a swappable right hand, with one that poses with a blast effect and another that holds Han's blaster. If you have to own at least one Vader from the ESB or ROTJ, you may as well get this one. I just wish Hasbro had added ball-hinged hips like in VC93.

This figure also include fabric for its tunic, a fabric cape and a red lightsaber.

Overall, this figure offers good likeness and articulation.

Get this for the accessories, not the figure.

The figure doesn't make this for me but the accessories DO! I love the fact that you have the Empire Strikes Back/Cloud City encounter accessories included. The blast effect and hand is my favorite. It looks great displayed. The picture that Amazon provides doesn't show the blaster correctly, it should have the blaster captured in the hand but either way, still a nice feature. Get this figure for the accessories, nothing special in my mind about the figure, not a huge improvement from previous releases.

had to return twice

I purchased this as a gift, the packaging was crushed. I returned it, and received a replacement. It was also damaged. I purchased this as a collectible item, not to be opened, so damaged packaging is not a good thing. Amazon was great & credited me for the purchase after 2 returns.
