I love this HP chess set !!!!!
By Mrs. Alice S. Franceschini
I love this Harry Potter chess set. I saw other reviews complaining about how the gold paint was applied but my set is perfectly painted.
It's suppose to look vintage and used. Some of the pieces do have vunerable parts to them so you need to be careful on handling
them. This is not a toy for small children. The chess board that comes with it is perfect. Some of the reviews said how fragile it is. Well I only use it for the game of chess and it's strong for doing that but I doubt it would hold a potted plant without breaking so if you only use it for
holding the game pieces it will last a life time. The details are amazing. Each chess piece is made with multiple castings so you get
a lot of detail behind, let's say, the saddle of the knight. It took a long time to put each piece together. The pieces look
exactly like the larger pieces (only smaller) in the Harry Potter movie but the chess board does not. The pieces are in their packaging very tight so you need a lot of care getting them out. The pieces look to me like a blend of die casting and plastic and they all have a nice weight to them. One review said that the knight was too big for the game board but my knight fits perfectly on the game board that I got.

Great set but needs a few modifications
By AJ
The chess pieces in this set are amazing, hence the four star review (1 off for the board, keep reading). Read the other reviews for details on the quality and fragility of the pieces. The board, however, is a different story. I was sorely disappointed by the quality of the board; it is nothing more than a piece of paper that has had a chessboard printed on it (with a low quality printer at that) with a sheet of plexiglass over it and plastic base. For about $25 I went to a tile store and bought a sheet of 2x2 white marble tiles and 2x2 black granite tiles and placed them over the plexiglass to create a much more appealing chessboard. This effort was of course after I reglued the ruby red glass pieces that had all come loose and were fortunately all still in the box on arrival. Now the board looks as I think it should have looked from the beginning--like a replica of the version in the movie. Given I was able to do it for $25 which included all of the markups on tile sold to the public, it seems as though The Noble Collection with its wholesale suppliers could have put a little more effort into the board for pretty cheap and achieved a superior rather than just a great product. Buy the set (preferably when it is on sale at the movie studio website with website coupons you can find online to knock a good $80-$100 off the list price) and then find a good tile place around town. You won't be disappointed!

Harry Potter Final Challenge Chess Set
By Linda Noel
Well, Grandma went a little overboard this year for Xmas gifts for the grandchildren. My only grandson, David (age 11), had this game at the top of his list. Grandma did some research and went to Amazon.com first. Found it with no problem and purchased it the same day. This chess set is no cheapie set, let me tell you. It's made from pewter and glass (and that's just the chess board). The pieces are like six inches tall and it's just beautiful. The poor kid won't be able to move it around though; it weighs 26.4 lbs. Grandma had one heck of a time trying to wrap that thing.

David was stunned, Grandma got kisses and hugs, and everyone went home very happy. Of course, since I spent that much on David, I had to spend the same amount on the four granddaughters. So, now Grandma is flat broke! It was worth it, though, just to see the astonished looks and smiles on their faces. My one granddaughter, Cyndy, actually broke down and cried from happiness.

It's a great feeling being Grandma. Love them to pieces!!
