Weak effort from Lego.
By Kate Stokes
This is a really weak offering from Lego. What happened is this: they released a far superior version of Jabba's Sail Barge back in 2006 (Lego number 6210) and it became a very popular set after it was retired. So, naturally they wanted to re-release the set in some form. Instead of improving the set, however, such as what Lego did with sets like Jabba's Palace 4480 (which became the much better 9516), Lego decided to release a vaguely similar (yet worse) set in order to shamelessly capitalize on pent-up demand for a Sail Barge set. The result is the set you see before you. It is less faithful to the design of the sail barge in the 1983 film than the 2006 set, and the minifigure selection and piece count are fairly weak for a $120 set as well. In short, I highly recommend that you pick up a nice used set (or new if you don't mind paying a lot extra) of the 6210 version. They are selling for only a little more than this set on the used market and they are a much better design. Don't even get me started on the fact that this set lacks a Sarlacc pit; what a wasted opportunity. This is an overpriced and underwhelming set and I recommend avoiding it.

"I have need for you on the Master's Sail Barge, and I think you'll fill in nicely"
By Nancy
Every Lego Star Wars fan's most desired luxury yacht has finally arrived!

It has all the bells & whistles to show off the extravagance of Mighty Jabba's influence to the far corners of Tatooine. The interior of this craft is spacious, sporting an onboard prison, chef's kitchen, and throne room second to none. The viewing area is very nice, allowing for striking vistas of the desert sand. As two famous visitors once put it, "I think my eyes are getting better. Instead of a big dark blur, I see a big bright blur." "There's nothing to see. I used to live here, you know." "You're gonna die here, you know. Convenient."

... and it is convenient, from the tastefully appointed throne room to the respectful R2-D2 Droid serving drinks on board.
Worried about the harsh desert Sand People or perhaps Imperial agents? Well, we've got that covered too. This ship has got a hidden pirate cannon, deck-mounted cannon, and two flick missiles. Most cruisers can't repel firepower of that magnitude!
Whether your pleasure includes just sitting on the deck and taking in the sun in your favorite metal-clad slave bikini, listening to the soft jams of Max Rebo and the Max Rebo Band, or just having a drink and sharing a story with the R2 droid, this ship has got it all.

P.S. Sail barge does not include Desert Skiff or Sarlacc, please see set 9496.

Challenging to assemble but it looks great completed.
By Ginger in L.A.
Bought this as a frivolous gift for one of my adult sons. He was home on break and was bored. I kidded him that school breaks were easier when he was a child inasmuch as I would buy him a Lego and he would be happy. He said he wanted a Lego even today and so my 25 year old selected two 1000 piece Lego sets to assemble. He really enjoyed constructing this (beats studying for the bar exam) and it looked very good when completed. This set was challenging yet not frustrating as some sets have been. Jabba is still as ugly as a Lego as he was in the movie!
